Hi, I’m Karen Lucas. I’ve been working in the Talent Acquisition and HR environment for about 19 years and really enjoy it. Like anything you enjoy and have worked intensely on for a long time, I have a lot to say about it. So that’s why I blog 🙂
How My Work Will Benefit You
My career has allowed me to indulge in topics not only concerning Talent Acquisition, but on a wider HR scale. The central question I explore through my work is, “What does Continuous Improvement look like in HR?” My writing focuses on these topics:

My mission is to build creativity into these worlds and make them actionable.
I don’t claim to have all the answers and I still have a lot to learn, but I’m happy to share what I’ve discovered so far.
About Me
Here are a few notable things about me…
My professional career in a nutshell:
- 2 decades of experience in Headhunting, in-house Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
- I learned most in Talent Acquisition and People Management when I led the TA Team in Amazon for Italy and Spain
- I’m skilled in Talent Management and overall HR Management
- In the past 10 years I’ve been a Trainer, creating and rolling out sessions mainly focused on Recruitment, People Management, Performance Management and Building Career Paths.
- I have been a Mentor for other Recruitment Managers thanks to my subject matter expertise
I’m an avid sportsperson:
- I run. Fast (for my age) and often! My personal record is 4.26 minutes per KM
- I play squash and love the “back-to-the-T” discipline of it!
- I’ve played field hockey since I was 11 years old. In Italy I captained and reached the highest league (“serie A”).
Family is very close to my heart:
- My husband Antonio rocks and is my rock. He perfectly counterbalances my persona. We have fun when we argue, he often shows me the light, is incredibly rational and is a Questioner
- My little girl Vivien is an extremely energetic two year old, who looks like she is flying when she runs. She is likely to run faster than me within 10 years.
- My sister Jo is a Professional Organizer and Declutterer. She provides very effective advice on how clearing your spaces effectively clears your mind!
- I am proud to say the rest of my close family are Engineers, Mathematicians and Managers.
